Ah, Ad:tech San Fran, home of the original PPC.bz parties. It started with the debauchery at the acai berry jello wrestling party, followed the next year by a “classier” party with Dirt Nasty, sponsored by the E Dubble-U A.

If you haven’t been to Ad:tech, it’s a pretty good show. It offers a different perspective on online marketing because the show is dedicated to all online advertising, and you’ll find a healthier mix of traffic sources then you would at something like Affiliate Summit (usually filled with affiliate networks). It’s a large show (bigger than Affiliate Summit I believe)

Anyway, the PPC (Party Planning Committee) has retired from the game and passed the torch onto Darren at the Marketers Ball. Professional party thrower Darren aka D-money has far more experience (more importantly, patience) for throwing parties so I’m glad he’s taking it over.

I’ve always wanted to put into words how I felt about Wikileaks. The fact that the media has convinced some people that Wikileaks is a bad thing really has me shaking my head.

These two clips from Colbert Report have pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about Wikileaks and the brave work they do. Your corporate overlords and their government friends work in secret to fleece you, the people, on a grand scale, yet not many people appreciate that Wikileaks is one of few organizations doing something about it.

And no, I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything. While I don’t believe in any new world order or secret societies trying to take over the world, the reality is that government and corporations do work in secret to give unfair advantages (tax breaks, favorable lawmaking, etc) to fuck over the general public and their tax dollars.

Best Internet Marketing Forum?

As far as internet marketing forums go, you have your big three free ones (although I’m sure there are other popular ones I don’t care about) – DigitalPoint, Warrior Forum, and Wickedfire. The first two are reserved for mentally challenged people and foreigners. Then Wickedfire’s popularity has a been a problem though as it seems to attract schmucks at an alarming rate, faster than mods can ban them. While there are a lot of quality people there no one shares anything because its an open forum, and “I’ll be damned if I want 50 assholes doing the technique I’m about to write out…”

Anyway, you might have noticed an influx of paid private forums lately. You might be thinking, “Are any of these worth it?” There is one that’s worth it and its PPVPlaybook.

I’ve mentioned PPVPlaybook a number of times before, and I just want to make it clear that it really is a quality community. (Look, no affiliate links even!) So I am writing this post to give a shout out to David and the crew for keeping a quality forum going, setting up fun shit to do at the shows (next pending meet-up involves Speed-o’s I think), and other debauchery. And no it’s not just PPV; everything gets talked about.

I don’t know how much it costs because I don’t pay for it, but I know its worth it. David gives me a free account and I just post “quality” (debatable though) shit in exchange for said membership. People are much more willing to be open when the venue is closed. Yes there are plenty of newbs but enough quality members to keep it valuable. Even a lot of the “useful” stuff I’ve posted on ppc.bz lately was stuff I posted on PPVPlaybook weeks before.

Party Hard – Get Your Affiliate Ball on

The party of Affiliate Summit West, Vegas 2011 will be the Affiliate Ball.

Guru Ryan Moran Takes Notice of PPC.bz, We Yell At Gurus Some More

So yesterday I wrote about a little something something about this guru product called Affiliate Marketing.

Today, I see this email from this fellow, Ryan Moran (the so-called Affiliate God. Not to be confused with U-God from the Wu-Tang Clan), about my post. It wasn’t to me directly, but blasted to his list.

I got a piece of hate mail today, and I just felt like sharing.

The reason you’re getting this email is because your on one of my “personal” lists, which probably means you’ve been following me for awhile now… so I’m really just sharing this as a personal note…

Today, I got my first piece of “hate press”, and I’m kind of excited about it…

That’s because a year ago, this would have ruined my day. Now, it just lets me know that I’m making enough noise to be heard.

Well Mr. Moran, I’m glad I can get you excited about my writing. Not many do, unless there is porn or marijuana involved.

Warning: this guy curses A LOT, so don’t let your kids read it.

I gotta meet the people whose bedtime stories to their kids are guru email newsletters. Seriously, I can picture Wagenheim reading the latest email from Howie Schwartz as he puts his kids to bed L O L

Also, before I let you read his nasty blog post, I’m NOT asking you to leave comments defending me. In fact, DON’T do that… let him be angry. I’ll look like a total jerk if I sent my subscribers to my rescue. Please don’t do that… I’m just linking you to it for entertainment and to show what happens when you get burned one too many times.

(If you don’t know my story, I got taken for about $3500 when I first started out, so I feel for anybody who has been ripped off.)

The reason I’m showing you this is because this is a prime example of somebody who has probably been burned…over and over… and over again. And I feel sorry for the guy that he’s been burned so many times that he feels the need to attack me.

First order of business is telling your fan base to NOT leave comments and talk shit. This is some Tom Sawyer shit, and they’re going to do the exact opposite.

In fact, as I write this, people are leaving comments. I wouldn’t care except this one comment got on my nerves:

You probably have seen how much traffic the salty droid gets for bashing people, so I think you’re trying to be a “me too” angry anti-guru blogger just to get traffic. Makes me never want to read your blog again, so I probably won’t.

JUST FYI: PPC.bz was bashing gurus before it was fashionable (See Amit Mehta, Zac Johnson posts). I learned everything I know about guru bashing from NickyCakes.com, who was doing it months (maybe a year?) before PPC.bz.

Saltydroid don’t have shit on me! That motherfucker COPIED ME.

1. I have never been burned by any guru product. Ever.

Why? Because I have some fucking common sense. I don’t buy guru products. I know better and you should too. If there’s a guru product out there worth looking into, I use my internet powers to get it for free. Torrents bitch.

2. Frankly I’m offended you think an intelligent person such as myself would be burned over and over … and over. If I get burned once, fine. Twice, shame on me. But third and fourth times, and you’re comparing me to a Warrior Forum fanboy and I should fucking stab you.

3. I don’t feel the need to attack anyone. I just do it because its fun. Also sometimes I shed light on the fact that guru products are worthless, and every once in a while I’ll change someones mind and prevent them from spending money on guru nonsense.

Strangely, though, he ends up AGREEING with me.

Just to Squash the Beef… or Cause More Drama?

To be clear, I posted the Affiliate God bashing right after the Ryan Deiss bashing. I legitimately think Deiss is a piece of shit guru. Then I saw the Affiliate God email come in, so I decided to bash that was well. I was on a roll. Can’t stop, won’t stop, bad boy for life.

I was told by a little birdie that Mr. Affiliate God does big number in the affiliate space. Like he actually does affiliate marketing. He doesn’t just launch guru products. He’s a good guy, I’m told.

Good guy or not, it pisses other affiliates off when experienced affiliates launch guru products.

There are Three Types of Product Launches

1. Product Launches from Non-Affiliates

What I mean here is people who don’t really know affiliate marketing. I mean real CPA Lead Gen etc affiliate marketing. This might be a person who doesn’t know shit, pretends he does, weasels his way into Guru circles, gets JV partnerships, etc etc

This kind of guru launch is generally shitty and targeted to unsuspecting newbies. These are the kinds of gurus that I like to make fun of. It’s all fun and games because they’re not really fucking with an affiliates’ money- they’re just taking from newbies who will end up wandering in circles anyway.

2. Product Launches from Failed Affiliates

Can’t hack it in affiliate marketing, but you know enough about it to create a product launch?

This ones easy. You spend 5 years reading blogs and forums. Month after month you can’t seem to get anything going in affiliate marketing. Maybe you had a hit here and there.

Finally, out of desperation, you launch a guru product. Those 5 years might have been a waste of time regarding your bank account, but you picked up enough information and met enough contacts where you could pose as some expert on the topic.

Not only do I find these types of product launches pretty fucking pathetic, many affiliates get a bit peeved about these types of product launches for a simple reason: Just because you can’t hack doesn’t mean you should blow the lid on something and ruin it for the people who are able to make it work.

3. Product Launches from Successful Affiliates

These are the worst kind of product launches. Why successful affiliates launch guru products is a mystery (its not a mystery really. Its money, plain and simple.) If they can make more money with their guru product than with their traffic source or current strategies, they will make the guru product. Sadly, most people in this position will.

Exhibit A: That CPA Ninja or Dogo clown that recently blew the lid on Plenty of Fish.

I will tell you that the affiliates I know fucking hate it when these people launch products. When you blow the lid on a traffic source or something, you are fucking everyone over who uses that traffic source successfully. Period.

All the affiliates getting fucked over by your product launch because of the flood of fucking ignorant people you’re bringing DON’T GIVE A FUCK HOW MUCH YOU’RE MAKING OFF YOUR PRODUCT LAUNCH. You are fucking with their money you twats.

My Final Thoughts

I am aware how much some gurus make. Don’t leave comments about me ‘hatin’ I’ll fucking stab you. I’m not jealous of how much some of them make (no I am). I’m just calling ‘em like I sees ‘em. If you think I lose sleep at night over guru products then you are sadly mistaken. I do it to entertain the readers, and make myself giggle.

I am aware of how much traffic there is out there. “Plenty for everybody yadda yadda yadda”. When people launch platform specific products, it really does fuck with peoples money (jacked up bids from the newbie influx). Most of the time, the “plenty of traffic” excuse for product launches is moot. MOOT!
