Who Hates MLMs? GDI is a Scam

September 26th, 2009 by Barman Leave a reply »

I do.

I’m sure everyone has had some experience with MLMs. They are the pushiest sales people on the fucking planet, and all they do is whore out their friends and family for a few bucks.

Don’t get me wrong – the MLM model has potential as a business model, but the truth is 99% of MLM’s are fucking jokes.

So I got some twitter Spam today about GDI, or Global Domains International. I did a few searches about this nonsense because I needed to see what is up, and I must say this is one of the scammiest ones out there.

Who the fuck is going to make millions reselling domain names? Not you, that’s for sure. What the fuck kind of stupid shit is this? First off, no one gives a fuck about .ws domain names, and you could just as easily be a Godaddy Reseller or Namecheap affiliate without having to pay MLM fees an dues.

And it’s not like .ws domains are exclusive to this MLM … you can get a .ws anywhere, so the reason this MLM exists is … what?

The Shady Fucks at the Top of The Pyramid

Just look at these shady bastards.

If you peep their stupid website you see all their Press from 2000, 2001. Nothing from recent years. Why? Because they’re probably broke.

So this is to the fucking twat spamming me on twitter. Stop fucking doing it or i will cut you where you stand. Fuck your stupid MLM and die in a fire.

I hate MLM too. My first journey into marketing and it set me back a few years back in the late 90′s. Damn, I’m old.

I hate to admit it, but two years ago, before I knew about AM and shit, I was pimpin the fuck out of GDI.

Paying $10 a month for a domain when you can get one from GoDaddy for only $7 bucks is a ripoff.
    Just bad karma man.
Stay away from MLM crap because the multiple layers of commission always (ALWAYS) drives up the price of the product.
    Not a good business practice…

The good thing about a free economy is the “willing buyer, willing seller” openess of it all.

Else CPA rebills might be knocked off by unhappy consumers (who don’t read the fine print).

Likewise if some consumers are willing to pay $10/mth per domain for a bizop, all the power to them, esp if they didn’t do their due diligence.

Same as some woman who pays $50 for a jar of skincream from Avon or some other MLM.

I think your major prob is the fact that you were spammed over twitter. why not pull out his domain info and post it in this post so it gets indexed and people doing research on the offer will land on this post.

doesnt hurt to rank for “http://rossb.ws/ scam” and “http://rossb.ws/ review”.

I don’t know about GDI specifically, but based on what I’m seeing here, I wouldn’t get too excited about it. That being said, I think you’re a little over the top re: the evil of MLMers.

Yes, some are complete a**h***s, but there are a few folks out there who do it the right way.

Just last night one of my facebook “friends” invited me to be a part of an “exciting new opportunity.” Sad sad sad.

I hate MLMs (esp CCP), but I’m digging the site overhaul. Nice work.

  16. Hmm. The product alone doesn’t do it for me. I may aswell sign up with go daddy as an affiliate.

This is a bit like picking a new Red Hot Chili Peppers or Ludacris song to use as an example of music sucking. There are mountains of MLM crap out there that would be the equivalent of Nickelback and Soulja Boy.

GDI is straight up a big waste of time for the average ppc.bz reader, but it is about as respected as you can get for MLM, without being something like Avon or Amway.

Just to give an idea of their reach — “zorbeez” brings up 26,300 results on google, “global domains international” over 600,000.

  25. First, I gotta say I love the blog. There are definitely some good nuggets scattered around. Your Sep. 23rd post should be a must read for people wanting to get into IM or marketing in general.

That being said, however, there are a few points about GDI I would like to address.

First, you can get a .ws website from others. However, you will be paying more because they in turn must pay GDI for the domain. Not that .ws would be a HUGE deal, aside from perhaps being able to get a domain name you might not be able to get from .com or .net or whatever.

Just getting a domain name period is cheaper at other places. Absolutely. But, the GDI package does not just include the domain name. It’s the domain name, plus hosting, 10 email accounts, site builder, plus a few other things like free forwarding, masking, etc.

If you attempt to do the same at other places, get ready to pay much more. I just wracked up $47 a month at GoDaddy for the same package. So, in that GDI is definitely worth it.

GDI is a good company, too many affiliates give it a bad name though trying to bolster the hype and hide the truth. And no, you won’t get rich (probably). But a couple grand a month doesn’t hurt my feelings.

Oh, if someone reading this IS a GDI affiliate take a look at the Sept. 23rd post on traffic. Take it to heart. I learned it the hard way. And be sure to attend the GDI weekly conference call. Three points they always make are: be honest, focus and stay consistent. This is not get rich quick, this is building a business.

And if you cry scam because you tried it for a month and didn’t do well, go find a J.O.B. That’s the real get rich quick method. This business is for those that have a vision for the future, and can work on long term goals. Otherwise, you’re throwing money at the wind (or my pocket, which I’ll take but you might want to use that $10 on a bag of chips).
